Built in 1911, the Rutledge Apartments weathered a major fire that destroyed the roof and top floor of the building.  Ensuing water damages resulted in the gutting of all but structural elements on the remaining floors of this five-story building.  The owner wanted  to maintain the historic tax credit status of the building after the restoration.  Breckstone worked with the City of Wilmington’s Historic Review Commission to totally restore the building and  bring it to meet the current code requirements.
